Permanent Transition: Updates
Permanent Transition » Devlog
I updated Permanent Transition to make the experience more in line with my original vision.
- Updated story pathways and forced more linearity to improve the experience:
- Before, the player would either get too lost in the sauce (frustratingly so) or get to the end too quickly while missing the most impactful passages. Sections of the story now have checkpoints that are required to move forward - the feeling of endless options emulating my depression is still there, don't worry.
- The game now only hard saves at checkpoints to prevent easily overwriting save files. You can manually reload a checkpoint from the Start page. The itch.io player should automatically pick up right where you left off anyway (if your web browser allows).
- Updated the sidebar to include:
- Home button that takes you to the Start page
- Visual indicator for saved checkpoints
- More functions for New Game Plus only
- Fixed various hyperlink, text, and formatting issues
- Updated Artist Statement(s)
- Added a new GIF and screenshots for the project page
Making this piece has been a huge learning experience for me from beginning to end. I'll be sure to post about any additional updates! Can't wait to start and post some new projects here. Thanks again, gamers.
